A powerful rainstorm blew fast and wet through the desperate desert town of Henderson, Nevada, this weekend, bringing sticky sighs of relief - and of sheer pleasure - to residents desperate for lubrication.
"Praise Jesus, was I happy to get some," said beaming 28-year-old Cassandra Tuttle of the long-in-coming weather event. "I was practically out there lapping it up."
"it got real wet, real fast," agreed 51-year-old April Peters, an avid gardener who'd worried that her petals were on the verge of drying up for good. "I'm pretty sure we got a full eight inches in that one night. And believe me, I savored every inch."
She sighed blissfully at the memory. "Honestly, I don't know that anything ever felt so good as hearing those raindrops pounding the roof so hard and fast I thought I'd lose my mind."
However, while it's generally agreed that the sudden torrential rainstorm was immensely satisfying, even mind-blowing, to hot and thirsty Henderson residents, some claim it only left them craving more. "I can't get enough," admitted 36-year-old Nina Pinto. "Bring it on. Next time I want to be swimming in it."
