After the latest news broke this morning about the one hundred lawmakers of the US Senate being sworn in on Thursday as jurors for the impending impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, TheSpoof.com has decided to provide readers unfamiliar with the case a two-minute breakdown of the facts.
President Donald Trump is only the third president in US to have been impeached.
Three other US presidents have faced impeachment before him — Andrew Johnson in 1868 and Bill Clinton in 1998 were both impeached, but Richard Nixon resigned before he could be impeached in 1974.
Interestingly, all three of those previous presidents to have faced impeachment had three things in common:
- they were all serving presidents
- they were all men
- their surnames all ended with the two letters 'on'
President Trump is accused of colluding with Russia over something, having a Russian prostitute urinate on him, encouraging Americans to become racist, wearing a red baseball cap in public, tweeting like a maniac, and to have obstructed justice by having telephone conversations with President Zelensky of Ukraine.
Both President Trump and President Zelensky are comedians.
