WASHINGTON - Amid national and international crises, the US House of Representatives could not confirm the color of the sky.
House Resolution 461, called for Congress to declare that the sky is blue. The resolution was proposed by Representative John Allen(D-CA).
The measure failed along largely partisan lines with the Republican Party opposed 234-205.
"This measure is clearly designed to extend the reach of the federal government" said Speaker John Boehner. "Who are we to say that the sky is 'blue' and not 'light blue' or maybe 'aqua blue'?"
An unnamed source in the Democratic Party says the party is regrouping from the defeat. Democrats plan to introduce new resolutions affirming that the "Pope is Catholic" and "Bears defecate in the woods."
