As part of an ever-growing trend, Her Majesty the Queen has, this morning, announced that she will be stepping back from her royal role, and will gradually retire from public life, which she described as "ghastly".
This follows similar recent action by Prince Andrew, who yet may turn out to be 'dodgy', and Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, who have been overwhelmed by both the press and the public purse.
The Queen is now 93, and has not been outside Buckingham Palace since 1984 - several body doubles having been used in the meantime.
She feels that her duties are taking their toll on her.
She said:
"Having to think of several condescending things to say for my Christmas speech has left me a bit knackered. Plus, meeting the plebs when they wheel them in for awards is quite ghastly. Many of them smell - of work."
The Royal Family is disintegrating.
