A waiter at a plush restaurant in New York has said that, after serving customers for nearly 16 years, he is absolutely sick to death of waiting, and is giving up the role, to search for alternative employment.
Andrew Skivvy, 34, has taken diners' orders and delivered them to their tables at La Dolce Eater in Queens since he was just 18 years old, and, despite various problems along the way, he has maintained his composure at work, and been the consummate professional.
But, said Skivvy:
"I'm burned-out with waiting. It's all I've ever done. My mom used to tell me that "everything comes to those who wait", but I've waited patiently, and politely, and nothing comes my way. Apart from abuse, that is. And poor tips."
Andrew's mom, a check-out supervisor at Waitrose, said:
"I think he's been taking me a bit too literally."
