The US military has deployed around 5,000 operatives in Afganistan to evacuate it's embassy, American citizens and personnel as soon as possible after President Biden and the NATO announced the retirement of all troops by September the 11th.
Obviously this opened a gap to the Taliban forces to act and has moved in a campaign to capture and control 23 cities around the nation advancing to control its capital, Kabul.
The US has invested around 1.5 trillion dollars in the war against terror. Which 87 billion of them were destined to train the Afgan forces with other 24 Billion in economic development programs.
The Pentagon has revealed that all that money was only to slow down the advance of Taliban forces never to stop them. Although it only took some weeks for the Taliban to capture all the major provinces in Afganistan.
With the Taliban already in the surrounds of Kabul the situation for the Afgan government is in the brink of collapse.
