In a speech that will have sent shockwaves all around the world, President Donald Trump last night revealed that, despite all the evidence to the contrary, his antics over the past four years have been mere jest, he was "just joking", and he is surprised anyone ever believed he was being serious.
Trump was speaking in front of a media throng at the White House, and chuckled as he spoke, saying that, from the very beginning, he had only been pulling people's legs about issues such as the Mexico border wall and the criminals, murderers and rapists behind it, and that people shouldn't take him so literally.
Blindly accepting that he could hold opinions so warped, and so contrary to those held by anyone with even the slightest drop of common sense, was being extremely naive, said Trump.
Thinking that the President of the United States of America, the leader of the free world, arguably the most powerful man on the planet, and the man with "great and unmatched wisdom", could come out with some of the most childishly outrageous statements that the public have swallowed lock, stock and barrel, ruining friendly relations with alles, and bringing the world ever closer to nuclear annihilation, took some believing, he said.
Trump regarded his audience with an incredulous look, and asked:
"What do you people take me for?"
