In order to support his vegan girlfriend, Kayla Meadows, in her hobbies, Nick Canto attended a plant-based nutrition conference with Kayla, tolerantly setting aside that, while Kayla seeks to live a life of non-violence in every respect, including what she puts on her plate, he himself has different values.
"Kayla's really interested in cooking and other vegan activities," said Nick, "and I wanted to show that I support her. I love that she has independent interests."
As does Nick; he's a huge NASCAR fan, attending races nearly every weekend - while Kayla's generally combing the woods for feral cats to neuter or participating in some sort of protest.
Nick said that despite his differing perspective, he greatly enjoyed listening to the scientists and doctors at the nutrition conference. "It was cute how fired up they got about the healing power of whole plant foods," said open-minded Nick. "They're entitled to their opinions, even if I happen to disagree."
He added, "I think it's important for everyone to have something they feel good about doing, whether it's rescuing a cow, saving the health of humanity, or cheering on your favorite race car driver," he said. "That's what makes this world a fun and interesting place. There's something for everyone."
While he''s not a vegan, Nick is far from unsympathetic to the plight of the billions of farmed animals tortured on factory farms, and slaughtered for the sake of a palate preference. "It's unfortunate," he said.
Nick did, however, make sure to bring his own lunch (an Italian sub and potato chips) to the conference he attended with Kayla.
"I'm open-minded, but I have certain dietary restrictions," he said. "I'm allergic to any vegetable that isn't directly touching salami."
