Josh Adams of Brooklyn, New York, was confused when a random girl, whom he'd hung out with maybe a dozen times over the course of a few months, told him that she needed to break up with him.
"She caught me totally off guard," said Josh of the girl he knew only as Katie. "Don't you need to know someone's last name to break up with them? Or be broken up with?"
Somewhat taken aback, he told Katie that he didn't really think all this was necessary. "At that point," said Josh, "she started crying and said she felt the same way. She told me she always wanted to have me in her life."
Unsure how to respond, Josh told Katie he appreciated that. She then asked him whether it bothered him how much she drank. "I told her I didn't really care," he said.
Josh said that, overall, he's pleased that Katie seemed to come out of the conversation feeling okay about things, whatever those things might be. And he even learned a few new things about her. "Apparently it's Katy with a 'Y,' not 'I - E.' Who knew?"
Fuzzy on the details, Josh also seems to remember Katy saying something about "committing," but it wasn't clear to what. "Honestly, I think she'd been drinking," he said.
He's not overly concerned about the details, however. "I'll probably hang out with her again at some point. Maybe it'll come up then."
