Nikki Haley, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, has 'resigned' from the position, but rumors are rife that she was forced to do so by the Trump administration, because of the lack of a third letter 'k' in her first name.
Haley - who I hadn't heard of until yesterday - will leave her post at the end of the year.
Nimrata Haley, to give her her full name, has gone by 'Nikki' from being very small, although 'Nicky' is the traditional spelling of the unisex name. There's no telling some modern-day parents, however, who just go ahead and crucify convention. Haley, then, was lumbered with the new-fangled 'double-k', which, for President Trump and his Right-leaning buddies, is just 'one 'k' short of a Klansman'.
Trump is said to have been overheard at a meeting Haley was attending, saying:
"All that lady needs for perfection is another 'k' in her name! She has everything else! I would!"
Several men chortled at this.
According to what I've been able to discover in the last five minutes about this woman, she was often very opinionated and even critical of Mr Trump in the past, and that, I'm afraid, should tell you everything you need to know.
