There was controversy-upon-controversy in Westminster this morning, when, after the UK Supreme Court ruled that Prime Minister Boris Johnson had acted unlawfully when he asked Her Majesty the Queen, on August 28, to suspend Parliament, the Queen, Herself stepped in, and grimly demanded Mr. Johnson's head - on a silver platter.
The news is hardly surprising. Johnson has rode roughshod over the ancient traditions of British politics as if they had never existed. Clearly taking his lead from his American counterpart, President Donald Trump, Mr. Johnson has finally hit a brick wall, now that the Supreme Court have ruled that some standards, at least, are worth upholding.
Johnson may squirm a while longer whilst his spin doctors find a facesaving way out, but it is a way out the Prime Minister-for-now is heading for, with egg all over his face, across his tie, and down his trousers.
The Queen is not amused.
