Weather forecasters in the wonderful Alpine winter wonderland of Switzerland are in an excitable mood this morning, after it was looking like snow would once again fall in the country, just as it always does.
Heavy snowfalls are expected in Andermatt, Verbier, Zermatt, Davos, Villars, Mürren, Wengen, Laax and the double-barreled Crans-Montana, as well as a whole host of other picturesque locations, full of pine trees, log cabins and cuckoo clocks.
In Zermatt, several feet of snow fell overnight, and this on top of what was already there, means that there will be a shitload of snow to play with today!
Wengen (pronounced 'Vengen') had 83cm of fresh snow, whilst Crans-Montana had 89cm - a whole 6cm more! - and even Mürren had 81cm! The runs are looking very healthy for the entire winter ahead at most Swiss resorts, and the people who hire-out ski equipment are rubbing their grubby little hands together with glee.
In fact, Swiss resorts accounted for most of the ten heaviest snowfalls in Europe this week, and prospects are good for the new year in nearly all cases.
Fresh snow is forecast all across the country. Powder snow has been reported at Davos, and Laax and Verbier are reporting good piste conditions.
The outlook for the rest of the week is chilly, and next week is likely to be very cold, with the temperature hovering around freezing.
