A gynecologist in Reno, Nevada recently purchased a Civil War commemorative cannonball for $14 at a local flea market.
He figured that he would put it on the table in the waiting room of his clinic, where it would be a nice conversation piece.
Well as luck would have it, one of his patients, who is a Civil War artifacts collector saw the cannonball and inspected it.
When she saw the doctor she informed him that it was only one of two War Between the States cannonballs that had been part of General Robert E. Lee's munitions arsenal.
She informed her gynecologist that the cannonball could easily sell for $137,000.
SIDENOTE: The doctor thanked her and told her that this visit was on the house. After getting home that evening he put it on eBay for $136,998.
