Truly great politicians have a knack for overcoming adversity and rising to new heights. Just think of the resilience that men such as Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill demonstrated in bouncing back from misfortune to lead their countries through some of their toughest times. New York’s disgraced former governor Andrew Cuomo appears to be made of the same stuff, and he may be coming back in a big way sooner than any of us expected.
The United States is about to face an onslaught of the Omicron variant—that’s bad news for President Biden who promised to win the war against COVID. Accordingly, Biden, with the full support of Anthony Fauci, Chuck Schumer, and Nancy Pelosi is about to name Cuomo to the position of Omicron czar.
The announcement will be made in the near future by vice president Kamala Harris, who will, as a female, acknowledge Cuomo’s past, but express her full faith in his competence and in his being a changed man. The hope is that Harris will stay on script and burnish her public image, which is even worse than Biden’s.
Insiders tell us that success as an Omicron czar will position Cuomo to be the Democratic candidate for president in 2024 should Joe Biden choose not or be unable to able to run for reelection. In that event, Cuomo’s past as a bully; as a serial harasser; as a manipulator of COVID numbers; and as an all around asshole will not be held against him particularly if he were to run against Donald Trump.
