US Homeland Security has uncovered what it says is a plot to invade US territory by its neighbor, Mexico, and is taking "appropriate action" to thwart this.
The 'evidence' has been provided from two sources: the first, from a captured Mexican soldier in military fatigues on the US side of the border near El Paso; the second, from undercover operatives stationed inside Mexico itself.
The unnamed Mexican soldier was 'questioned' by at least 25 civilian men after they'd been socializing in a local bar for twelve hours.
President Trump held a meeting with his General Staff and military personnel at the White House last night. The information from inside Mexico suggests that a rapid response is needed if the US border is to remain intact. Up to 30 places along the border are thought to be under immediate threat.
The decision was made to cancel all leave during the festive period, and to mobilize all available units, reported to be upwards of 40,000 men.
President Trump tweeted before going to bed:
