A guardian reading music fan

Although he is a fan of most forms of music, Guardian-reading dad Gary Johnson has not heard of many of the acts or albums in the Guardian's 50 best albums of 2022.

'I have heard of some of them' said Gary 'I mean I have heard of the Arctic Monkeys, Suede, The 1975 and Harry Styles, but I haven't seen them live, but there was a time when I would go to ten or so concerts a year, and none of the names would have meant anything to me then'.

Gary who has seen the Eagles live 6 times, and goes to the Wet Sprocket pub for their Thursday night open mikes, describes himself as an ardent music fan, owning 75 CDs, 43 vinyl records and 37 singles.

Gary's son, Thomas is more clued up about modern music 'I have heard of all of them, but it is only because I follow Sarah on Instagram, and see who she is listening to'.

Thomas has a pretty obvious crush on Sarah, but won't ask her out, because he is only 17, and doesn't realise that if he doesn't, there is the potential for a lifetime of regret ahead of him.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
