Speculation is rife tonight that a location frequently mentioned on the pages of satirical news website TheSpoof.com does not actually exist, and is entirely a figment of somebody's imagination.
Chutney on the Fritz, or, alternatively, Chutney-on-the-Fritz, regularly features in news stories on the site, but doubts have arisen as to its authenticity, and a crack team of investigators have been conducting a thorough search that has turned up nothing in the line of positive evidence.
"We've had one man going through a world atlas for about three months now, and another combing Google Earth for weeks, all to no avail," said an administrator on the site.
Another man, who said his name was Brian Haynuss, said:
"Well, it's true that TheSpoof.com is a satirical news website with many of its stories total fabrications, but this really goes beyond the boundaries of what is acceptable."
It's now emerged that even the reporter who writes about the town's strangely-mundane activities may not be 'real' himself.
