SCIENCE NEWS - NASA scientist, Joseph Goebbels, explains how extraterrestrial life would exist.
"They are referred to as alien life, sentient or relatively complex, but they are actually 'an awareness of the self' created by the universe," says Goebbels.
Life that occurs outside of Earth, and that probably did not originate from Earth, is an evolution of the mind that reaches for a higher state. These hypothetical lifeforms may range from simple prokaryotes to beings with civilizations far more advanced than humanity.
The Drake equation speculates about the existence of intelligent life elsewhere in the universe. The science of extraterrestrial life in all its forms is known as exobiology.
Since the mid-20th century, there has been an ongoing search for signs of extraterrestrial life, but logic states that the oldest Galaxy holds the most advanced lifeforms which have technologies that can be used to reach us within seconds. Goebbels argues why are they so silent? The answer most likely is that advanced alien lifeforms wouldn't find humanity very interesting, just like humans don't find ocean algae too astonishing.
Intelligent life most likely is already aware of everything that exists on Earth. A search for extraterrestrial life, and a narrower search for extraterrestrial intelligent life, would lead us to a wide variety of different stages and different levels of technologies.
