He may be a tough guy, and he may have knocked-out American, Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone, inside 40 seconds in his UFC comeback fight on Saturday, but Conor McGregor also has his softer side, and this became apparent to fans when the Irishman was later spotted in a Las Vegas casino carrying a red women's handbag under his right arm.
McGregor had earlier dispatched Cerrone by striking him with his shoulder in a clinch, before landing a head kick, then landing a flurry of punches after his opponent dropped to his knees.
Immediately after his post-fight interviews, McGregor headed for his hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, the Palazzo, and had a sumptuous bubble bath in a luxury octagon tub. Then, after cleaning his lugs out with cotton buds, he sallied forth to the hotel's shopping complex downstairs known as The Shoppes.
Shoppers, there, gawped as they recognized McGregor, with one man shouting:
"Hey, isn't that Conor McGregor, the golfer?"
A crowd formed around the fighter, asking if he could read, but, almost immediately, he started to look nervous. A woman asked him:
"Why are you carrying a woman's purse?"
McGregor retorted:
"It's not a purse - it's a handbag!"
The 31-year-old then made a hasty retreat, and went back to his hotel room for the rest of the evening, where he watched some repeats of 'Father Ted', whilst eating a plate of mashed potatoes.
On second thoughts, it may not have been Conor McGregor, at all.
