President Donald Trump has reacted characteristically to comments made by Megan Rapinoe, the US Women's football player who said she wouldn't visit the White House should her team win the World Cup.
Trump tweeted:
"She's a women. She'll do as she's told!"
Rapinoe scored twice in last night's 2-1 win over hosts, France, to set up a semi-final berth against England, but the player's earlier comments were the thing that struck a chord with the president.
"She should win before she talks," said Trump. "I support the team's efforts, but, when you get right down to it, football is a man's game, whereas washing clothes, cooking and cleaning, are women's games."
"Ironing, too, and scrubbing the floor," he added.
"And cleaning the mud off my shoes," he remembered.
"And milking the cows," he enthused.
