Pep Guardiola, the victorious Manchester City coach, who last season guided his charges to an unprecedented Maine Road treble with Premier League, FA Cup and successes, has hurt his back.
The injury was sustained when he was being tossed, 'birthday bumps-style' into the air by his players after their 6-0 annihilation of Watford at Wembley last Saturday. He landed somewhat awkwardly and felt a twinge immediately. He is now rather tender in a spot around his left side adjacent to his ribcage.
Doctors have assessed the Spaniard already, and say that he is a very, very lucky boy that he didn't come off much worse, and do any permanent damage.
They have given him a stern warning to be more careful when City win everything again next year.
