NASA officials say that the golf balls struck from the Moon's surface by Commander Alan Shepard during the Apollo 14 mission in February 1971, may never be found.
Shepard drove the first 6-iron shot from a dusty lie on February 9, but, although he is a fair golf player, with a good backswing and follow-through, and aimed for central Africa, the ball has not been seen since, despite an extensive search.
The second ball was hooked, and is currently thought to be travelling at the speed of light. It's expected it will eventually come to rest on a green three universes from our own, if it doesn't go into a Black Hole-in-one.
