LOS ANGELES CITY HALL, CALIFORNIA (LAWYER'S JOURNAL) -- Britney Spears & Paris Hilton taking the lead in a multi-million dollar class-action lawsuit brought against high satire website, TheSpoof.com, was filed in municipal court in downtown Los Angeles today. Leading the star-studded charge is Britney Spears, Paris Hilton & Tom Cruise.
Cruise tells reporters, "We've banded together in a show of solidarity to fight the nasty & sometimes cruel articles and news reports which emanate world-wide from this website". Hired to represent the Hollywood superstar group are high powered Beverly Hills lawyer's, Blumenthol, Soderstein, Maytorena & Wimpy.
The rest of the defendant's roster reads like a Hollywood who's-who. Jessica Alba, Linsey Lohan, Donald Trump, Woody Allen, Russell Crowe, Jessica Simpson, Bruce Willis, Mary-Kate & Ashley Oleson, Rosie O'Donnell...the tinseltown parade of names goes on & on. In the heart of this lawsuit, the image shattering truths thinly-veiled as satire are influencing many fans which are steered to TheSpoof.com by erroneous headlines which borderline on libelous journalism written with such abandon they cross the line into brutal reality.
The owners of TheSpoof.com are brothers Mark & Paul Lowton, based in the UK. Paul gave us a brief history, "We started the comedy website in 2002 as a joke. After having modest results and due to outside forces was forced to sell the site to cover bad investments that my brother had been entangled with. The new owners did not have a wink of sense about running a popular international site - whatsoever!".
Mark chides in, "We all make bad business decisions in life and thus, it's what happened to me when I became hoodwinked into buying an invention which rewinds DVD's. If it wasn't for me brother, I would not of been able to unload the worthless contraption to Blockbuster Video Inc., which hired me as a Media Rewinding Technologist trainer, as part of the deal for a year.
"February of 2004, I lost TheSpoof.com in a poker game, only to find out that person I lost it to, Helium O'Flaraty, cheated. We arrived at his home in London and between both Mark & I, beat the holy crap out of Helium and demanded & obtained the deed to the site for good. Mark has also taken up the duties as TheSpoof.com Editor", Paul looks over to Mark with a proud smile. "He has done a fine job with it."
Paul & Mark comment on the lawsuit and dismiss it as balderdash, poppycock and irrelevant. "How serious can a lawsuit as this one be...?", asks Mark, "...When the one's filing the grievance has filed it in another country outside our own? Those stupid banana splits!"
