More eyebrows have been raised as the Sussexes’ latest Netflix trailer dropped this week. Apart from the timing, widely believed to have been to compete for attention with the Prince and Princess of Wales’ visit to America, the video includes several scenes the authenticity of which some viewers have questioned.
In addition to a long line of paparazzi, under the hearing “See how the press bully us”, which was actually from the premiere of a Harry Potter film years before the couple met, the trailer includes a scene of Harry, wearing a Spiderman costume and defeating Emperor Palpatine from the Star Wars movies, using a light sabre.
One viewer tweeted “Palpatine wasn’t killed by Spiderman but by Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker’s dad.” Another posted “Harry isn’t Spiderman but a guy wearing a Spiderman outfit” A third said “Spiderman and Palpatine are fictional characters, so what has this got to do with Harry and Meghan?”
Meanwhile, another clip showed Meghan, wearing a nurse’s uniform and discovering a cure for cancer, while attending to fallen soldiers in a field hospital. One watcher wrote “I’m sure that didn’t happen”.
Netflix has refused to respond to allegations that they are putting out misinformation ito try and bolster Harry’s and Meghan’s flailing image in America.
