first day of the Barclays Premier League (EPL) season.

Normally, I'd be delighted with a home match to start the season off, but this match fell just three days after we sold Robin Van Persie to Manchester United, one of, if not our biggest rival.

A goalless draw, on a positive note, new signings Podolski, Giroud and Carzorla made encouraging debuts and look like fitting in - before their inevitable transfers to one of the Manchester clubs!
