There was confusion aplenty in one backwoods-and-out-of-the-way place today, when one man kept thinking it was Saturday when, in reality, it was only Friday!
The confusion had arisen because of the fact that Khmer New Year celebrations, which start on April 13 this year, meant that schools shut on Friday April 12, to give people enough time to get ready for it.
Consequently, Thursday being the last working day of the week, Friday, as a designated holiday, felt like a Saturday, due to the relaxed, non-working nature of the day.
Moys Kenwood, 55, said:
"I kept thinking it was Saturday, because I'd forgotten that they'd given us Friday off!"
Kenwood had intended looking out for the football results on the BBC website, but, having realized his error, was forced to reschedule his plans for 24 hours later.
"I feel so silly," he said, adding, "it's thrown me right out of my stride!"
