There has probably been a time in everyone's life when we've been unfortunate enough to have seen a woman with hairy legs, but nothing in one man's experience had prepared him for the sight he beheld whilst traveling on public transport in Hull recently, when a woman sat opposite him with legs hairier than his own.
Moys Kenwood, 55, was sitting on a number 5 bus in those seats at the back where passengers face each other across the aisle, when a woman boarded the vehicle and sat down opposite him. He glanced at her heavily-made-up face, but, to avoid staring, he then looked down, and received a fright. Kenwood:
"Her legs were hairier than mine. They were like two black beards. At first, I couldn't look away. It was horrible. And terrifying. I was mesmerized."
Just then, the bus driver sounded his horn at some moron or other on the road, and the transfixed Kenwood's concentration was momentarily broken.
As the journey progressed, however, his eyes stole fleeting glances at the bearded legs, just to make sure his sight wasn't playing tricks on him.
At one point, he felt his eyes being drawn to the legs, and the effort not to submit and look, made beads of sweat appear on his forehead.
The 'woman', noticing this, growled in a man's voice:
"Ayer sin enough, y'pervy bastard!?"
Kenwood then got off ten stops earlier than he'd intended, and walked.
