Bill Murray a.k.a Carl causes a traffic jam of golf carts on the streets of Stockholm

Stockholm, Sweden - Apparently reprising his beloved role as the emotionally challenged greenskeeper, Carl, obsessed with killing a renegade gopher in the original Caddyshack movie, Bill Murray was arrested by Stockholm police in the early morning hours for suspicion of driving a golf cart (the hotel's) while under the influence of alcohol. He was pulled over on the streets of central Stockholm, apparently on his way back to his hotel after returning from an evening well spent at the trendy Café Opera nightclub, just a mile away.

Murray refused to cooperate with police by blowing into a breathalyzer, so a blood sample had to be taken back at the station. Results are expected in a couple of weeks; meanwhile, Murray could not be reached for comment, as his whereabouts are unknown.

Admittedly, driving a golf cart in Stockholm is legal, according to Stockholm police. Moreover they also admitted Murray showed no outwardly signs of being intoxicated, so apparently he was pulled over because it was such an unusual sight.

Although lack of good judgment in selecting a golf cart as a mode of preferred transportation on the streets could be used against Murray in a court of law. No word on whether he will argue he was driving a golf cart to help reduce global warming as of yet.

It is rumored, however, that all the trouble began back at the golf course bar the day before where Murray had been drinking at earlier after playing a round of golf at the tournament he was invited to, to play.

While at the bar, other Swedish golfers complained that they overheard an intoxicated and belligerent Murray say he was going to get into his golf cart and run over all the golfers on the course.

Later, Stockholm police investing the matter determined that he actually said he was going to run over all the gophers on the golf course, not the golfers.

"Apparently, the meaning was lost in translation," joked the Stockholm policeman, who was considering charging Murray with attempted murder in addition to grand auto theft for borrowing the golf cart, but he will only be charged with a DUI, if warranted.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
