The Scuttlebutt Review reports that a homeless man who works the street corners of Manhattan has come up with the novel idea of taking credit cards in lieu of money.
Norman F. Charwick, 57, who has been working the street corner of Lexington Avenue and 53rd Street for several years, told SR reporter April Jiggle that he hit upon the idea of in lieu of cash, he would let the 'money givers' pay with a credit card.
He said that he worked out a deal with VISA where they would provide him with a VISA cash card.
Miss Jiggle said that Norman used to take in about $195 on a daily basis, but since he now takes VISA his daily take has gone up to $275.
SIDENOTE: Miss Jiggle said that a few days ago, Mr. Charwick was offered a job working in the credit card department at VISA in downtown Manhattan.
