Bad candidates are leading in the polls. Their lies, exaggerations, and out-and-out sander seem to have no limit. For example, one guy insists he's anti-abortion, but two women said he insisted on abortions and that he was the father of both issues. The same guy is leading in the polls and running against a preacher. Irony? What else?
Another example of a bad candidate is the clown running for the US Senate seat from Ohio. He says women should remain in abusive marriages for the children's sake. Hot damn! Thank you, mam.
In this climate, any lie will get a vote, and any snake oil salesman could win an election for the US Senate.
Wait! Hold it. A snake oil salesman is running for election, insisting his snake oil was the right stuff, and Mr. Snake Oil salesman is up in the polls. He should have been tarred, feathered, and run out of town. Instead, he's moving up in the polls.
The Chief Snake Oil salesman is Donald Trump. He's the MAGA hero. He is also a draft dodger, adulterer, and tax evader, about to monetize top secret stolen documents and, and 26 women have accused him of sexual misconduct. Donald Trump is no J. Christ, but he's the MAGA hero.
Trump holds the keys to the kingdom. No one on Trump's side dares to cross him. A supposedly powerful guy like Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell won't even clear his throat to defend his wife against a racial slur said by Trump.
These bad candidates insist they will win on election day or it won't be a fair election. It's like a virus that has metastasized into a pandemic, and Democracy is at risk because of one original carrier Donald Trump and his big lie.
