(Washington) – The National Traffic and Safety Board is urging all drivers to make sure that they replace the air in their tires every month. This is due to the phenomenon of ‘flat air’.
Undersecretary of the NTSB Hoot G. Lemon stated: “People don’t realize the danger of old air in tires. After all that driving, the air molecules get crushed and need to be replaced. Oxygen just can’t stand up to that kind of pressure. Once a month, you should let all of the air out of your tires, roll them around a few times and let them sit for an hour. This is to ensure that the old air doesn’t find its way back into the tire when you fill it. And, please, be safe and do not breathe that flat air.”
