Wheeling, West Virginia. Spoof News Service. The increased installation of solar panels throughout the United States was blamed today for "a significant increase in global warming." The charge came from a report issued by a little-known Wheeling think tank, the Midland Institute, but has reverberated across the world.
Statistics accumulated by two scientists associated with the institute reveal that average annual temperatures have risen 1.5 degrees in the last three years in five specific areas where solar panels have been most widely used. That contrasts with only a 0.3 average annual increase for the rest of the country.
"The concerted effort, promoted by the solar panel industry, to place panels on every roof in America threatens the well-being of this and future generations," the report concluded,
The Midland Institute is the creation of Clean Coal.Org, a conglomerate financed by five major coal companies.
