In a story that, frankly, defies belief, a woman who washed her husband's trousers with a $10 bill in their back pocket, and failed to realize this, only became aware of this when her husband informed her later.
Esther Carsten, 33 wife of Bill, 36, did the household laundry last Thursday, checking, as is her policy, all the pockets of trousers, shorts, shirts and skirts, but, inexplicably did not unearth Bill's bill.
She said:
"I'm usually pretty diligent when I check the pockets. You have to be - the kids are always leaving bits of tissue or something in them!"
But this time was different, she said.
"Yeah, I've had a lot on my mind lately. Or the phone rings, or something on the TV grabs my attention. When that happens, everything just goes out of my mind!"
Esther realizes she missed a big opportunity this time, however:
"It's a lesson for me: concentrate on what you're doing, and don't get distracted."
