Mitch McConnell, house leader of the Republican party has admitted that on conferences, the entire party dresses in blackface, and often with Indian feathers, too.
"We love it," said party member Geoff White. "We're embracing our inner negro. It's not racist, it's just a bit of gun. I mean fun."
At the last party retreat to Whitesburg, Georgia, all Republican senators dressed up as blackface minstrels and performed a rousing rendition of Al Jolson's "Mammy".
"It was an innocent thing," said senator White.
Only one Republican refused to join in the farce. President Donald Trump insisted on wearing his usual orange-face.
