Officials at the IRS suspect many of the recent marriages involving Jesus Christ and high income women may not be kosher.
IRS director Gus Whitney said today, "We received thousands of tax returns last year from women who are newly married to Jesus. In the past, Jesus has tended to marry lower income women who do charitable work or are involved with religious organizations. We are concerned that many of the newlyweds, who are self-employed doctors, lawyers, and exotic dancers, may only be marrying Him for the tax breaks."
The IRS has noticed deductions for expensive honeymoon trips with Him and high-end automobile leases in His name.
Mr. Whitney says he does not suspect Jesus of any wrongdoing, but says the women need to use better judgement. The director explained, "The IRS has very lenient deductions for registered religious organizations. Hell, you can even buy a 65 million dollar private jet for your personal use and write it off. These women are just too lazy to fill out the forms!"
