Coffee and college. Like oil and water, they don't mix.

Lots of kudos for Starbucks when it was announced that the company was initiating a program to pay college tuition for its baristas. No applause from the customers though.

Baristas are so wrapped up in their studies, the level of service has declined. This was evident last week in NYC, at a midtown branch of the coffeehouse, where a reporter from The Spoof saw several testy exchanges.

When an annoyed customer at the counter complained about the long wait for service, he was advised, "Good grief, can't you just chill? I learned in my psych class that Impatient folks are more prone to heart attacks."

A customer who asked for more sugar for his coffee was told, "No can do. My science prof says too much sugar is bad for you."

When a group of ladies requested more napkins, the tart response from an annoyed barista was a loud sigh and this instruction: "Just go wash your hands. Do you have any idea what all this excess paper is doing to our environment?"

Ah, well. Aristotle once said, "The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet."

But would Starbucks customers agree?

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
