WASHINGTON, DC - President Barack Obama will unveil a plan to tax flatulent-producing foods in order to cut methane emissions from Americans during his remaining two years in the White House.
The new "fart tax" - which will be formally unveiled on Wednesday - is Obama's last big chance to fight climate change.
The Environmental Protection Agency is aiming to cut human methane emissions by up to 45% from 2012 levels by 2025.
"It is the largest opportunity to deal with climate pollution that this administration has not already seized upon," said Mike Easter, director of the climate and clean air program at the Human Emissions Board.
Human flatulence is the third largest driver of climate change, after carbon dioxide and bovine flatulence.
