"You've never had it. So, good"

The Prime Minister Mr Ramsay MacDonald today announced that the nation's longest ever recession was finally at an end. Speaking outside 10 Downing Street he said "It has been a long, hard time for us all. Now let us be thankful that we have made it through to recovery."

Colleagues of Mr MacDonald immediately emerged to shake his hand. These same colleagues had only days before been calling for a change in leadership before the General Election. Now Clement Attlee, one of the Prime Minister's strongest critics said "We need to get right behind the Prime Minister. I offer him my full support, until next week."

Analysts say that the recession, which began in 1929 and which lasted until January 2010, was without doubt a record breaker. Sadly the recession outlived Roy Castle so instead Bruce Forsyth led the nation in a rendition of "Medication's What You Need".

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
