A Buckingham Palace spokesperson for the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, has said that His Royal Highness would consider any moves by Iranian clerics to install him as the next Ayatollah (or ultimate Spiritual and Political Head) of Iran.
The crisis in Iran has become very fluid and it seems that all "jobs" are up for grabs which has led to many Shi'ite clerics looking anywhere for a post modern leader. A small group based in Tehran approached the British Ambassador with an offer presumably that Prince Charles couldn't refuse.
The Palace denied that the offer consisted of free pork for a year.
His Royal Highness is said to be excited by the possibility as he feels constricted and more than a little bored by his present Royal duties, what with dull building openings and tedious speeches to uninterested punters. If he does accept the position of Ayatollah, it would be a first for any British Royal (being outlandishly stupid to the max, that is).
Charles will have to grow a suitably moslem beard as a result. NB an Iranian cleric group has said that the whole issue was nothing more than a Twitter joke. Phew!!
