Buckingham Palace has refused to deny a story in the Weekly Chronicle, that firebrand royal prince, Harry, humiliated his older and more stable brother, William, by passing him in the passageway in their living quarters a couple of mornings ago without stopping to shake hands.
It is English tradition that whenever a member of the royals passes a family member during their morning sojourn to the palace’s bathroom, they stop, shake hands and spend five minutes talking about hunting vulnerable animals and other royal topics. If it is true that Harry failed to follow this important custom, then it will mark a turning point in the tempestuous relationship between the two men, which allegedly began to crumble following his marriage to some high-maintenance actress from another country.
Royal watchers have admitted that the practice isn’t followed slavishly, citing an example a couple of decades ago when Prince Edward accidentally peed on his hand, and decided not to shake hands with his brother Andrew for fear of contaminating him. However, there is no reason to believe that Harry’s apparent snub was urine-related.
