There was chaos amongst MPs in the House of Commons tonight, after it was realised that they had been duped, and that the vote they had taken part in earlier - Prime Minister, Theresa May's Brexit deal - had, instead, been a 'second referendum' on the country's exit from the EU!
Things went awry, when the House Speaker, John Bercow, rose and said:
"The result of the vote is 432 votes to 202 votes to reject the deal, and, I am pleased to tell you that, therefore, Britain will not now leave the EU."
Chaos ensued. There was uproar. Many MPs roared upwards. People ran this way and that, some screaming, some dribbling. Many cried, but there was also hysterical laughter, not least from Mrs May, who had cleverly concocted this evil plan to remain in the EU.
Leading 'Remain' advocates rejoiced, and said that, even though the vote had been a lie, it was justified, as 'the powers that be' had got their way, and everyone else should now get on with it.
One MP said:
"This is outrageous, preposterous, and calamitous! How can it be allowed to stand?"
But Mrs May cackled:
"This is modern politics. President Trump has shown us the way. Nothing is what it seems. Deal with it!"
