Police and immigration officials were called to a beach in Norfolk this morning, when a man was discovered only half-conscious, and wearing only a pair of lederhosen. He was soaking wet.
The location for this momentous event was the seaside village of Studley Constable, two miles south of Great Yarmouth. It's thought the man may have arrived on British soil after an arduous crossing of the North Sea from Germany.
Lederhosen, literally 'leather breeches', are breeches made of leather. They are worn in all walks of German life - in the workplace, during leisuretime, and even in bed. The Bayern Munchen football team wears lederhosen as part of its change strip.
A police spokesman said:
"Although it's true that this chap was only 'half-conscious', it's also fair to say that he was only 'half-unconscious'. He looked as if he had come straight from the Oktoberfest or one of those Christmas markets!"
