An angry David Beckham, 35, has reacted to England manager Fabio Capello's dismissal of him as being too old to play for England again.
He is taking Capello to the European Court on charges of discrimination. 'To write someone off because of age is unfair' he told me 'Capello hasn't a clue. He has just flopped in the World Cup and before he does anything else he gives me the boot. He can't be allowed to get away with this.'
Fans have been protesting at the victimisation of Becks and Capello is likely to be booed at England's next match.
All this has drawn attention away from England 2-1 win against Hungary in a Friendly, thanks to two goals by Steven Gerrard. It was a bit like two buses coming in half an hour late, when you have already missed your appointment.
But, despite Capello and without Beckham, we march on to the European Cup. With France and Italy in even worse stress than we are a reasonable performance is a real possibility.
No pin point accuracy from Beckham's centres, nothing for the anti-Beckham characters who always slate him but we may still see victoria at a Championship final.
