With Rob Green's inept displays, David James' being viewed as "past it" and Paul Robinson's recent retirement, Fabio Capello's keeper position was in a complete crisis.
That is until the crafty Capello managed to lure England legend, Peter Shilton, out of retirement to be Joe Hart's no.2 for the National Team.
"He good playing. Air he good- down good. Good." Capello said (or asked.)
Peter Shilton, 60, has revealed his joy at having the opportunity to earn his 126th England Cap twenty years after his last, "It's such an honour that I have been recalled. I hope to have a real active part in our qualification for Euro 2012."
Our reporter asked Shilton how he was physically coping being three times older than the rest of the squad;
"I'm doing well. I can't run- but I never could. Unfortunately one of my hips is ruined so I can't dive one way. I won't reveal which as it would give our opponents an advantage."
