The football world has been shaken to its very foundations this evening with the sad news that Aston Villa and Martin O'Neill have divorced. The marriage was annulled this afternoon, taking just two minutes.
O'Neill and Villa wed four years ago in the Wedding of 2006.
He said earlier:
"We have grown apart, and I've found another. I don't want to give out any names, but I'll be making another announcement n the near future."
The Irishman said that, in the past, he had become accustomed to lavish amounts of money being made available to him, but that these had now "dried up", and his love for Villa had faded.
The couple said that the split had been "amiable", and that their immediate concerns were with their 40,000 children.
