The FA today summoned all players and staff who went on England's disastrous 2010 World Cup jaunt to South Africa to a meeting at Lancaster Gate, where 'remedial action' for their poor performances was on the agenda. It was decided that:

"the players will receive a 'kick in the balls'."

An FA statement issued late last night which was highly critical of the players, support staff and coach Fabio Capello, hinted that even the Italian will have his testicles 'seen to'.

England drew with the USA and Algeria, and stumbled past Slovenia 1-0 before losing 4-1 to old rivals Germany to crash out of the tournament. Listeners who heard today's news on BBC Radio 5 Live contacted the show to voice their approval. One irate fan said:

"The way the defence played against Germany, a kick in the balls is too good for 'em!"

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
