Pyongyang, North Korea. It is reported here today that North Korean football officials have been approached by delegates from FIFA and asked to surrender all their nuclear weapons, suggesting that FIFA now sees itself as a quasi United Nations organisation.
The reaction from North Korea and indeed the entire United Nations community has been one of utter dismay and profound anger. "Who do they (FIFA) think they are?" cried one UN spokesman. "Footballing authorities should stick to what they know best...football" said another. North Korea has sent a eleven line letter to Sepp Blatter outlining its concern at FIFA acting outside its official charter.
The organisation's apparently high handed behaviour was defended in a statement.
"We command two thirds of the planet's attention every four years with the World Cup. Why shouldn't we tell North Korea what to do?"
The association is seemingly on a path of changing the world order.
NB North Korean football officials at the World Cup in South Africa have kidnapped the FIFA President and are holding him for a undisclosed ransom. They may even be seeking automatic qualification for the World Cup Final in early July.
More lies when I make them up!
