The scandal that has engulfed the France World Cup squad entered new territory this afternoon as the French national airline, Air France, refused to carry the team back to France.
The decision by the French FA to withdraw from the World Cup has not gone down well at home, and the airline's view seems to be in keeping with people back in France, namely that, the players should not return to the country.
Nicolas Anelka has already left for a spell of penal servitude on Devils's Island, and Raymond Domenech has been told he can expect to face the guillotine should he show his ugly mug around Paris again.
Bertrand Merde, an executive with Air France, told me:
"Zer iz no way we would allow zose bastards on our aeroplane. Zey are deesgusting! Zey ort to be shot!"
