England coach Fabio Capello has quit his post.
The sensational news hit the airwaves this morning after a turbulent weekend at the England camp, at the end of a week which saw the national team held by the USA and Algeria, and the Italian is said to have "had enough".
Having only just had his contract renegotiated by the English FA on 2 June, Capello watched in agony as his overpaid 'stars' failed to assert a perceived superiority against two footballing minnows, for whom, playing England was their version of the World Cup Final.
Viewers on TV watched in horror as Capello observed his pathetic primadonnas, first lurching up and down the touchline, and then with his head buried in his hands with his eyes peeping through bent fingers, as his team stumbled aimlessly through both of the games as if they had never played together - or even met each other - in their collective lives.
Sources close to the Italian supremo said today:
"He wishes he had taken any other job."
