Never one to miss out on a media opportunity, former Arsenal idol and confirmed World Cup cheat, Thierry Henry has promised a night of high emotion when he returns to the Emirates Stadium with his Barcelona team-mates to face his old club in the Champions League quarter final first leg.
"But of course I shall cry," Henry told our man. "It will be very emotional for me to return to Arsenal. I ave many appy memories from my time zere, and I am a very emotional human being. Who would not cry?"
Some cynical observers though appear to think that Henry is cashing in and hoping for press coverage similar to that which greeted David Beckham's emotional return to Manchester United with AC Milan, working on the assumption that Henry is angling to have his photo on the box cover of a new console soccer sim game.
"No doubt about it," Dermot O'Reilly told us in a pub in Kilburn. "Thierry Henry epitomises the modern game. He's a dishonest, money grubbing, self-obssessed cheating French bastard!"
Ireland will not be in South Africa for the World Cup Finals this year.
